Swimwear
Sun, coast, and catalogue. Swimwear done right.
Swimwear modelling ranges from mainstream high-street catalogue (the bread-and-butter work that accounts for most of the volume) through to campaign work for premium swimwear labels and editorial coverage in travel and lifestyle publications.
The category requires confidence in front of the camera with less clothing than most other modelling contexts. Models who work successfully in swimwear have developed a relaxed relationship with the camera that allows them to look natural rather than self-conscious. That quality is always visible in the final image and cannot be added in post.
UK swimwear catalogue shoots happen year-round, often in studios with warm lighting and a holiday aesthetic created in post rather than on location. Campaign and editorial work does travel: Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands are common locations for UK brands shooting seasonal collections. Working efficiently on location, in variable conditions, and across a full day of quick outfit changes is part of what makes a reliable swimwear model.
A strong swimwear portfolio shows natural, confident posing in swimwear, a variety of body positions (standing, seated, in movement), and ideally at least one location image alongside studio work.
