The face of the brand, on the ground.
Promotional modelling is where the work happens face-to-face. Not in a studio with a camera: on the ground, at events, in retail environments, at brand activations, at everything from trade shows to music festivals to product launches.
The role varies by brief. It might mean representing a brand at an exhibition, engaging with consumers at a sampling activation, staffing a hospitality suite, working a product launch event, or providing a brand face at a corporate event. The core requirement is the same in all cases: you are the human connection between a brand and the people it wants to reach.
This makes interpersonal skills as important as anything else in this category. Promo modelling rewards people who are confident in unstructured social environments, who can maintain energy across a long shift, who can engage naturally with strangers, and who represent a brand professionally under variable and sometimes difficult conditions.
Work is typically paid by the day or half-day. Rates in the UK generally range from £100 to £250+ depending on the brief, the brand, and your experience level. London and major event cities (Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow) have the highest volume of work.
A strong promo portfolio shows event and lifestyle images that communicate confidence and approachability in real-world settings, good personal presentation across different environments, and evidence of brand or event experience where available.
