Commercial

Real-looking people for real-world briefs.

Commercial modelling is the largest category in the industry by volume. It covers advertising campaigns, brand content, catalogue shoots, lifestyle photography, and any imagery a business needs to sell a product or communicate a message.

The skill is naturalness. A financial services brand needs someone who looks trustworthy. A supermarket needs a family that looks like families actually look. A tech company needs someone who looks like they are genuinely using a product and finding it useful. Looking like you belong in the scene, rather than like you are performing in it, is what the client is buying.

This is harder than it sounds. On-camera naturalness is a trained skill. The ability to look normal while 12 people stand around watching you and a photographer fires 300 frames in an afternoon is specifically and deliberately acquired.

Commercial models work across every age group, body type, and background. This is one of the categories where diversity in the industry has genuinely expanded: brands increasingly want their imagery to reflect the actual range of their customer base.

A strong commercial portfolio shows easy, natural expressions, lifestyle contexts (in a kitchen, on a street, in a workspace), and a clean, accessible aesthetic with nothing too editorial or conceptually demanding.
